Alex
Bourne climbs the legendary Alpe D'Huez during summer 2001:

"I
enjoyed the climb up l'Alpe d'Huez, even though it was difficult. (I stopped 5
or 6 times for water
(I
did it in the middle of the day and it was 40+ degrees centigrade in the sun)
but made it in the end).
The
descent afterwards was the best part though, and I would climb it again just for
that!
The
climb is 13 kms long rising 1100 metres with 21 bends.
I
hope to do it again if I visit the area in the future".
